What Does “Why SEOs Are Switching From ChatGPT to Claude for Chrome (James Dooley Discusses with Dennis Yu)” Talk About?
This episode features James Dooley in conversation with Dennis Yu, exploring why SEO professionals and digital marketers are increasingly moving from ChatGPT to Claude for serious business automation. The discussion centers on real-world productivity outcomes, with Dennis sharing that in a single week he burned 150 million tokens at a cost of just $200 per month, generating roughly 600 articles, processing podcasts, writing three books, handling client communications, and onboarding 10 new clients. These concrete examples make a compelling case for Claude as an operational powerhouse rather than a conversational novelty.
The episode digs into the economics of using Claude's flat monthly subscription versus paying raw API costs. Dennis breaks down the math on Opus 4.6, Claude's most capable model, which carries a $5 per million token input cost and $25 per million token output cost. Running a single agent at the scale he describes would cost an estimated $25,000 per month through the API alone, making the $200 monthly plan an extraordinary value. The hosts also discuss why having multiple $200 accounts can be smarter than defaulting to API billing.
A practical migration guide is woven throughout the conversation. Dennis advises users to ask ChatGPT to compile everything it knows about them and all prior work before switching, storing that documentation in Google Drive to train Claude agents effectively. He also highlights a critical limitation of ChatGPT in agent mode, namely that it times out after 30 seconds, making it unsuitable for multi-step, hours-long tasks. Claude's orchestration tools, including Claude Code and what Dennis calls the harness for managing multiple agents, are positioned as the reason business users are shifting their market share preference toward Anthropic's platform.
“In the last week, James Dooley, I burned 150 million tokens, and it cost me $200 a month. And what did I get done for that? I think I created about 600 articles. I linked together a whole bunch of sites. We got 10 new clients. We did all the work. I wrote three books. I processed podcasts. I had the thing send emails on my behalf.”

What Are the Key Takeaways From “Why SEOs Are Switching From ChatGPT to Claude for Chrome (James Dooley Discusses with Dennis Yu)”?
Here are the key points discussed in this episode:
- Claude has grown from 25 percent to 70 percent market share in business use in 2026, signaling a major shift away from ChatGPT among professional users.
- A flat $200 per month Claude subscription can provide the equivalent of $15,000 to $25,000 worth of API token credits, making it dramatically more cost-effective for high-volume SEO work.
- ChatGPT times out after 30 seconds in agent mode, making it unsuitable for multi-step workflows that require continuous effort over several hours, while Claude handles these tasks reliably.
- Before migrating from ChatGPT to Claude, users should ask ChatGPT to compile all prior work, memories, and SOPs into exportable documentation so that knowledge can be used to train Claude agents.
- SEO professionals should position themselves as managers rather than operators, using Claude's orchestration tools like Claude Code and agent harnesses to delegate and automate at scale.
“Whatever you do as an SEO person, level up as a manager. Claude allows you to be a manager. Their tools are built around you being a manager, with orchestration and Claude Code and what people call the harness, which is how you manage the different agents.”

What Are Listeners Saying About This Episode?
“The breakdown of token costs versus the flat $200 plan was genuinely eye-opening. I had no idea that running Opus 4.6 at scale could cost $25,000 a month through the API. Switching my agency workflows over to Claude this week.”
“Dennis Yu's tip about asking ChatGPT to export everything it knows about you before migrating is something I have already done and it worked perfectly. Really practical episode with zero fluff.”
“The story about Dennis not knowing what his AI wrote for someone's book foreword and then having it read aloud on a call had me laughing, but also made the point better than any statistic could. Great listen for anyone running SEO at scale.”

James Dooley: Why SEOs are switching from ChatGPT over to Claude for Chrome. Today I am joined with Dennis Yu, who has done a lot of split testing on all the different types of LLMs to be able to get those AI agents working 24/7. So Dennis Yu, the question for you today is why should SEOs be switching over from ChatGPT to Claude?
Dennis Yu: Well, James Dooley, there is no question that ChatGPT has a consumer advantage with over a billion monthly users. But did you know that in 2026, Claude went from 25 per cent market share to 70 per cent market share in business? So, for those of us doing SEO as business to business, on behalf of other businesses, businesses do not just want to chat with people. We want to get work done. So all the processes we have for building sites and recording content and using tools, in the last couple of months you may have seen things like Claude and Code, and Co-Work, and Opus 4.6 at a million tokens. In the United States, we had this issue with the Department of War. So temporarily Claude said everyone gets double their token credits for free, except between core hours of 8am to 2pm. So, in the last week, James Dooley, I burned 150 million tokens, and it cost me $200 a month. And what did I get done for that? I think I created about 600 articles. I linked together a whole bunch of sites. We got 10 new clients. We did all the work. I wrote three books. I processed podcasts. I had the thing send emails on my behalf. I was on a call today with a private equity guy where we are helping another client sell their company, which is great. And this guy, I wrote the foreword to his book. Well, the AI wrote it, and it did such a good job. He caught me off guard and said, “You know what? I am so grateful that I just wanted to read the first page of Dennis Yu’s foreword to my book.” My heart went into my throat for a minute, thinking I do not even know what it said, and he read it and it was amazing. So whatever you do as an SEO person, level up as a manager. Claude allows you to be a manager. Their tools are built around you being a manager, with orchestration and Claude Code and what people call the harness, which is how you manage the different agents. If you have a good process, if you document what you do, if your clients love you, if you have results to share, then Claude Code at $200 a month, when I am probably using $15,000 to $16,000 of credits right now, why not?
James Dooley: And how much would that cost you if you were doing what you are doing with Claude? How much would that cost you with ChatGPT, or would it just let you time out and not do what you needed it to do?
Dennis Yu: So, I use Opus 4.6, which is their best model. It has got a million token context window, and their raw input is $5 per million tokens, and their output is $25 per million tokens. So, if you do the maths, I am probably going to burn close to a billion tokens this month. You figure that is 1,000 times 25. Yes, it is easily $25,000.
James Dooley: Yes.
Dennis Yu: Yes. One agent. I have got multiple of these going.
James Dooley: And then if someone is listening, let us say they are using ChatGPT and they are listening to what you are saying. Anyone who is watching this as well, make sure you check out the links in the description where Dennis Yu has gone to town on split testing every different type of LLM. But if somebody is going to move over from ChatGPT and, let us say, they are going to be using it, maybe even replacing certain members of staff because it can work 24/7, is it better? I have seen in one or two of your videos. Why is it better for them to maybe get two different $200 a month accounts than using the API?
Dennis Yu: Well, just because your cost will run up like crazy. So these guys, it is like when Uber first launched and they would just lose money intentionally to get market share. And that is what Claude is doing right now with OpenAI, and the fact that these two companies are fighting. We are happy to take their money for free. Right? Anthropic raised another $100 billion or something like that. Happy to take their money. And in your migration, you want to ask ChatGPT, put together a list of everything you know about me, all the work that we have done together, so I can train up another agent. Now, I know they are kind of listening in the background if you read their terms of service. So I do not say it is because I want to use Claude. I say it is because I want to train up another agent. And then it will produce tons and tons of documentation. Store that in your Google Drive or wherever you keep it. And now all the conversations, all the memories, all your SOPs. Because a lot of people say, “I love chatting with ChatGPT. I have a relationship. I do not want to leave.” Then they apply this thing that I mentioned and they find that Claude can pick up just as well, and it has a better memory because ChatGPT in agent mode times out after 30 seconds. So you cannot do work that requires several hours of continuous effort. Anything you have that is multi-step, you are going to be very frustrated in agent mode. It was fantastic six or seven months ago, but now it is just super frustrating. I still go back to ChatGPT and, just to be fair, I will try and give each of them the same project and then compare.
James Dooley: Yes, for sure. So, anyone who is watching this who is using ChatGPT, maybe as a consumer, you might prefer it. That is fair enough. But if you are an SEO and looking to be doing the work, Claude is just 10 times more powerful. I have actually done exactly what you said. I have started to export all the information, move it into Claude, and the amount of different AI agents that I have now got working is incredible. So Dennis Yu, it has been an absolute pleasure, and anyone who is watching this, hopefully now you are going to be looking to change over from ChatGPT to Claude and become a lot more productive.
