What Does “AI Agents for Inbound Lead Generation | Voice AI by GoHighLevel (GHL)” Talk About?
This episode of the James Dooley Podcast dives into the practical use of AI agents and voice AI inside Go High Level (GHL) CRM for inbound lead generation. James Dooley and Kasra Dash walk through the specific steps involved in setting up a knowledge base within GHL, including using the web crawler to scan website pages, manually adding FAQs for niche topics, and uploading files like PDFs or emails. Kasra uses his own SEO conference, Masterminders, as a real-world example of how to configure these knowledge sources so that AI agents can respond accurately to prospective customers around the clock.
The hosts also cover how to configure AI agent goals within GHL so that both voice AI and conversational chatbot agents can naturally collect lead information such as names, emails, and phone numbers during a conversation. Rather than asking for details robotically, the agents are designed to weave fact-finding into natural dialogue. James and Kasra also discuss the business impact of deploying these agents, citing conversion rate improvements from roughly 12-14% up to 21-22% for service businesses that have adopted this approach. The episode wraps up with an open invitation for viewers to ask follow-up questions about specific GHL features or comparisons with other CRMs like HubSpot.
“I want to stress to you the importance of training the AI on everything of what you do. These are your digital salesforce. You want them to be making certain that everything they're saying you're happy with what they're saying.”
— James Dooley

What Are the Key Takeaways From “AI Agents for Inbound Lead Generation | Voice AI by GoHighLevel (GHL)”?
Here are the key points discussed in this episode:
- Training the AI knowledge base thoroughly is the single most important step, because garbage data going in leads to hallucinations and inaccurate responses going out to potential customers.
- Go High Level's web crawler can be pointed at dozens of website pages so the AI agent understands services, team details, and offerings without requiring manual entry for every detail.
- Manually adding FAQs, rich text, tables, and uploaded files allows businesses to fill in specific gaps that a web crawler might miss, such as VIP ticket inclusions for an event.
- Setting clear goals within each AI agent, such as collecting a name, email, and phone number in sequence, allows the agent to gather lead information naturally within the flow of conversation.
- Service businesses using properly configured AI agents in GHL have seen conversion rates nearly double, jumping from around 12-14% up to 21-22%, because leads are nurtured faster and fact-finding happens automatically.
“I'm seeing people that used to convert at maybe 12, 13, 14% and now they're at like 21, 22%. So they nearly doubled the conversion. And it's because they're able to nurture the leads better. They're responding to the leads a lot faster.”

What Are Listeners Saying About This Episode?
“The breakdown of how to set up the GHL knowledge base using the web crawler plus manual FAQs was exactly what I needed. I had no idea you could upload PDFs directly to train the agent. Already seeing better responses from my chatbot after following these steps.”
“James's point about treating AI agents like a digital sales force and spending two or three days getting the knowledge base right really hit home for me. I had been rushing the setup and wondering why my voice AI was giving weird answers. This episode fixed my thinking completely.”
“Really appreciated the real-world example of how the voice agent naturally asks for an email or phone number mid-conversation instead of just firing off a list of questions. The UPVC windows example made the goal-setting feature click for me instantly.”

James Dooley: using AI agents including things like voice AI within go high level CRM software. Today I'm joined with Kazradash and every single week it seems to be that we're using these AI agents for different things with regards to overflow call centers. They can answer it 24/7. They can be factf finding and getting certain information. So let's jump in and show some kind of examples and why the AI agents with go high level has been great and transformational for a lot of our customers that take lead generation and tech leads are looking to convert.
Kasra Dash: Yeah. So within go high level if you click on AI agents and if you click on knowledge base first of all what you want to basically do is set up the knowledge base. Now, I've got one here for the masterminders, which is my SEO conference. And you can basically do a lot of different variances, right? So, as you can see, I've been using the web crawler. And the web crawler, you basically just give it URLs of your website, and it'll go to those URLs, and it'll basically say once it's basically finished crawling that URL, it will say status trained. Basically what it basically does is it goes to this page, scans everything that it needs to know and it's like right I understand everything that I need to know about that page. What I would recommend in this section is getting the web crawler to crawl your homepage so it understands maybe like your services, who you are, your about page, maybe you've got like a meet the team page and then any services that you actually offer. So there might be like maybe 20 30 pages that actually crawls if there's anything in particular right like for example in my conference we've got VIP tickets like what's included in the VIP tickets this is a little bit more of a manual process right so for example if I actually expand on any of this um you can actually see that I have like filled in like for example what are the travel options to get to the conference venue um so I've said that you can walk to it you can the the train whatever right if there's anything in particular you just want to add a source and then just add a FAQ there's also tables and rich text and you can also upload any files so maybe you've got some PDF documents some emails etc you can you can obviously upload all of those and it will just train the knowledge vault once you've got the knowledge vault set up next is you've got like the agent templates so if you're going to go after like a voice so let's say you run a service-based business and it's only open 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., you can select any one of these voices and it basically overlays the knowledge vault. So, let's say you've got this um AI receptionist here.
James Dooley: Let me just stop you there for one second with regards to the knowledge base because I just want to make certain and instill this into anyone who's looking to get go high level and looking to use AI agents. I want to stress to you the importance of training the AI on everything of what you do. Casual has gone to town and are explaining you can add extra bits in but literally everything every possible thing that you want the AI to understand and because they're speaking to your clients 247. These are your digital salesforce. You want them to be making certain that everything they're saying you're happy with what they're saying. Like it's so important to train them up correctly. Just like you would with a sales team. You want to make certain that you you could be listening to voice recordings of like your sales team. Just make certain that the AI knowledge base is trained up. And even if it takes two or three days of just going to town on making certain that it's right because then for 247, 365 days of the year, these AI agents are working as your digital sales force. Get it right. I just want to instill that into you that it's garbage in and garbage out. You don't want any hallucinations where they just make something up. You want to make certain you're training that knowledge base to be bang on and then this will be the best sales force you have ever trained up again. Go on. Sorry, Cass for interrupting.
Kasra Dash: No, no, it's fine. Um, so yeah, like like what James was saying like um it it doesn't matter which one of these AI voices you use. It very much comes down to knowledge base. So the more information you can give it, the better the output. Um there's obviously different voices. You can search for like different um different business niches as well. Or you can also um select like different pricing as well. Some of them are premium and you need to pay um like there's yearly ones, there's free ones, etc. What you can also do as well is once you actually set up like the conversation bot, you can actually have certain goals. So whether you're using the voice AI or the conversation AI, the conversation AI is like a little chat bot um in the bottom right hand side of your website, right? The voice note is like when you're out of the office, someone phones you, the the the voice agent actually picks up. You can set goals for each of these. So you can say, okay, goal number one is to get the person's name. Goal number two is to get the person's email. Goal number three is to get the person's telephone. Right? And it will actually naturally work that way. into the conversation. It's not just going to say, "Hey, James, uh, what's your telephone?" It'll it will actually answer James's question. So, if he says like, "Hey, um, do you guys do UPVC windows?" It will answer that. And then it will say, "Yes, James, we do UPVC windows." Oh, by the way, what's your email? I I can send you over some more information on that. And then James might have another question. It say, "Oh, do you also do UPVC uh biffolding doors?" and it will say, "Yeah, James, we also do that as well. What's your telephone, by the way? I can I can send I can um give this contact to one of our sales reps and he can get in contact with you." Does it in a very natural way.
James Dooley: Yeah. I mean for me like with regards to whether it's voice AI or conversational AI and everything of what can be done there certain AI bots that was done on um the WhatsApp integration and stuff like that and email flows and being able to follow up and make certain that soon as an inquiry comes in it's being followed up to say here you are with like certain workflows that's been done. But for me, the fact that these AI agents now can work 24/7, 365 days of the year, and once you've trained that up properly, these AI agents on inbound lead generation of what you're doing is just absolutely transforming conversion rate. Like I'm seeing people that used to convert at maybe 12, 13, 14% and now they're at like 21, 22%. So they nearly doubled the conversion. And it's because they're able to nurture the leads better. They're responding to the leads a lot faster. They're getting the factf finding. Some people, some businesses are like, "Oh, I'm inundated with inquiries. I don't know how I'm going to get the information for what they want pricing." And these AI agents have managed to help them and get that information. And I think you can the fact that you you were saying there you can set goals to say I want this this this and this. The AI agents trained up to factf find and get it. And if it is that someone wants to speak to someone, they can transfer calls as well, there's not a problem with doing that part. But the AI agents is working so well within go high level. So as if anyone's got any questions with regards to whether it's voice AI or AI agents, leave a comment in the comment section. We could do a follow on if you've got specific questions on some of the features that's within Gohigh level of what you might want to know. You might be using HubSpot and how does it compare with that and what we overall think of the go high level CRM
